progress!
- i'm now nearly 2 cm dilated now, up from 1 cm last week!
- i'm 40% effaced, after not being effaced at all last week!
- my gd gd numbers are so good that my insulin wasn't increased at all this week!
- and i've LOST a pound! so i've been directed to "beef up" my diet, with which directive i am more than happy to comply!
- the gd gd peri and the ob finally talked! and the gd gd peri says the ob is now "amenable" to doing an amnio (probably next week) and delivering earlier than 39 weeks!
- i didn't cry or even well up, not even once during today's appointment!
the gd gd peri says the magic numbers for induction readiness are 2 cm and 70% effaced; has anyone out there heard those particular numbers before? i never have. anyway, i'm rapidly approaching them, so woohoo!
wow, did i need a good morning like this one. this weekend was tough; you know you're in bad shape when your husband asks you what side dish you want with dinner and it's so overwhelming you start to cry. but today's appointment was so positive, and milo is kicking like a champ today, and the heat wave is supposed to start moving out after midnight, and there is hope!

Yay! Never heard of the 2 cm 70% thing, but I was 50% effaced and 1 cm when they induced me, and it worked just fine. You're SO close!
OBs use something called a Bishop's score to determine how successful an induction is likely to be. You can read about it here. Probably when you reach the numbers the docs gave you, your Bishop score will be favorable enough to induce. I think my stats were the same as Kathy's when I was induced. You are getting close indeed!

wow. this is awesome news. I have also heard of 2cm and 70% and i've also heard of the bishops score. You and Milo sounds like you'll do it all yourself and it's not that far off now. woohoo.
Are you going to have that baby when I'm far away? You aren't going to have that baby when I'm gone, are you? That would be just crazy. I've come this far and then am going to be four thousand miles away.
Okay, maybe I'm the crazy one. Milo will come when he feels like it.

Wow, you are so ready! How can it be that I am 39 weeks and not at all dilated or effaced? Last time I was 2cm/80% at 37.5 weeks... I fear it is because I am such an inactive, lazy sloth this time around... What's your secret?
