raindrops keep fallin' on my head
in the continuing saga of "what more can the universe dump on me?", i got a traffic ticket this morning, taking justin to work. he doesn't even work on fridays; he picked up some extra hours today which will now go to pay my ticket. or they would if i could figure out how much the ticket is. i have read the entire thing, front and back, and it does not say. maybe it's a free ticket! or maybe not. i could contest it - it was raining, it was dusk (or whatever you call it in the morning), i don't normally drive at that time of day - but i'd have to take off work, which will either cause my already shortened trip to italy to get even shorter or mean an unpaid day, which would cost far more than the ticket, surely. maybe not. maybe a left turn during rush hour is a huge fine. you could see how making a left turn at an intersection where even the ticketing officer described the traffic as "light" could seriously jeopardize public safety. if we keep making left turns, the terrorists win. i should just shut up and mail in the fine. except i don't know how much it is.

it's dawn, not dusk.
anyhow, this blows. first time i work overtime in four years and it'll be going toward a parking ticket and a driving ticket.
i'm told that you have to call the number and type in the violation number and you'll get a price.
yep...pay by phone will kindly tell you how much you owe...then give you the option to put it on your visa or mastercard. Sorry kiddo.
That really bites! I live in fear of those swirling blue lights -- I have a real contempt for authority, which tends to turn me into a blathering idiot when confronted with it. Hope the fine isn't too much of a hit.
Well, it's that time of year. I always seem to get tickets in the fall. Probably some quota thing or something.
And remember, Justin got a ticket a week ago. The universe has deemed that you will HAVE to pay a ticket, one of you, so it's pulling out all the stops to make sure everything's covered.
Here's the thing, this wasn't that bad. Last time Laura and I got pulled over together, enroute to visit my grandfathers grave after his death, I was arrested! and Laura had to bail me out of jail!!!
All of that, for a clerical error in a neighboring city!
Ahhhh, damnit. I noticed cops everywhere on Rt. 70 yesterday...almost at every little turn-around point. They're out for blood, I tell you!!
Well I guess not being arrested is a good thing. But it still sucks:(
how utterly ridiculous. to determine what number you call to find your fine, you have to determine whether your offense was waiverable or non-waiverable.
waiverable is not a word in the english language. it means nothing.
should i point out that fact to the judge? because i'm going to go see him. my fine is $124. how utterly absurd. i am so contesting this ticket.
crud, this overtime isn't going to be very beneficial when all is said and done.
If we contest, do we have to pay court fees?
I am so sorry your having to deal with this asinine shit, on top of dealing with your dad, etc... Why does everything have to be so difficult? I hope you can contest it without incurring any other fees. Wow, I'm really hoping things get better very soon. Enough already!
Oh man. $124?
That's so crazy! How horrific.
Youch.
Can you contest it in writing?
At some point, you will hit bottom, and things will start looking up again.
I hope that we have enough money to hit bottom. The finances are below bottom, hence the overtime - which I'm probably just working to give the fucking city anyway....
Ok, so I've figured it out. Figuring in this ticket, taxes on overtime, all that jazz - I'll come out about $39 ahead.
What a waste of an off day.
Laura, I'll be getting loaded with Poor Ass Leon @ Market Square -- can you just pick me up there?
oh damn, the universe is really screwing with you guys. shaking my fist at the universe on your behalf.
lol...waiverable? What genius thought that up?
Generally, the party that loses pays the court fees.
So, essentially, court fees are, um, waiverable?
