Seriously, though, the only times I've gone without my computer were when I did Outward Bound four years ago and this past May-June, when we went to Jekyll Island.
We missed our computers. Note that in Europe we always had internet access though. Those people have their priorities in order!

I shall say, I'm addicted. If and when we take an extended, meaning more than 2 weeks, trip in the winter - we should ditch the computer and both actually concentrate on writing, with paper and pen.
I could live without a TV, but I bought a laptop for a reason.

ummm... E] is an ancient lost culture's elaborate pictograph depicting their societal rite of passage involving small crustaceans, 30 foot high headresses and an attempt at reaching the earth's core through interpretive dance and yodeling.
i am ashamed to admit that i am taking my laptop to bonaire...but my excuse is that i've been advanced paid for data entry at the 2nd sdj that i haven't done so i need to catch up on hours and am an insomniac anyway. (okay, i'm addicted)
You all should seek help - especially if you're checking in on the likes of us, while you should be holiday making!
i agree with mb; our latest home computer is a laptop for a reason. writing with pen and paper slows me waaaaaaaay down. and when i get that slowed down, i have time to second-guess what i write as i'm writing it and then i start self-editing too soon.
either the laptop goes or i don't.
i'm glad i'm not the only one who doesn't know what E] expresses. i'm going to go with synge's interpretation until someone provides a better answer.

Laptop can go - but really, we can do without the net ... I'm sans computers when I head to Nicaragua, which might send Darren into shock. I'm not sure if he's gone a day away from connectivity in quite some time.

plus, you know my best travel writing is what i e-mail home about our trips. can't do that without the net. 'tsall i'm sayin'.
