i just watched a man die

he had a heart attack. i froze. by the time i'd run to grab a defibulator, someone else had started cpr and recovery. he never came to.

rest in peace.

i'm spooked - but honestly, i've become more and more comfortable with death. atleast much more so now, in the last year. i'm not really afraid of my own demise, so much, but how it might happen. i do admit that i'd really hate to go like this: in public view, with folks staring, and others not knowing what in the world to do. there was a little girl with her father - not related to this man far as I can tell - and they were standing there, like ghosts, just staring at this man as he lie dead. i'd suggested that they might be more comfortable in our private lounge, away from the rush of people. the man just froze, and asked me where he could find an etkt machine to change his seat... clearly, this wasn't what he meant to say, but he needed to say something.

it's a wakeup call; on a handful of levels. first, foremost, i really should watch what i eat, and exercise more. sure, this could happen to anyone - and it does, but damn, this helps. and not so unselfishly, i'd really like to brush up on my cpr, i haven't kept up since i left the class room - and the defibulation machines, i really should take this as an opportunity to learn how to use them effectively. this sort of thing happens here more often than we can imagine.

Oh Justin, how shocking. Same thing happened to K on the golf course years ago. He tried to keep him alive but couldn't. It still haunts him.

I'm sorry you had to see it and in such an unexpected way:(
