one less thing about which to worry
i've done all this hand-wringing over medical coverage for next year only to learn i've been comparing apples to oranges; the quotes from justin's employer are by the month, while mine are bi-monthly. if we switch to his coverage, we can get slightly better coverage than we have now, much better coverage than is available from my employer next year, and pay significantly less than we would have to under my plan and only slightly more than we're paying now.
the catch: we have to wait until january first to unwrap the sperm gun. justin has agreed to it, and while i don't want to wait, i haven't had a period yet anyway. so what the hell.
we have to buy a hpt tonight and take it in the am just to make absolutely sure my period hasn't started because we had a leaky condom. barring that unlikelihood, we're making the switch. which means if i find a better job in the mean time, i can take it.
woo hoo!
who says i'm not positive?!?!?

Wow, "the sperm gun" -- now that's a penthouse forum word.
Are you abso sure that pregnancy is a preexisting condition? I gave notice at my old job about 2 weeks before I found out about Spooky, and was surprised to find that pregnancy is not ever considered a preexisting condition. But having a new deductible to fulfill sucked.
It's always good to have those kinds of decisions squared away, but remember, God laughs at all plans.
So that wasn't PMS? I hate waiting to bleed.
*Bang* *Bang*
I may have mentioned this... after each of my miscarriages, it took me six weeks to have a period again. And the first cycle was anovulatory. So you may not even be fertile yet.
Although I do so much hate the violence of the word 'gun' associated with what you mentioned...
Getting preggers has never been a problem ... it's the follow through.
Laura sat on hold for 45 minutes waiting on one of my HR reps. I'm sure that they are crazy busy at the moment, deadline being tomorrow. We'll certainly figure out this pre-existing bullcrap in the morning before submitting our final choice.
it depends on how the plan is funded whether pregnancy is a pre-existing condition or nor. the economical option on my plan would consider it a pre-existing condition.
i, too, deplore guns, but not all my associations are negative. glue guns - fabulous. caulk guns - tons-o-fun. i'd like to see guns become a positive - all the violent ones banished and in their place the ones that make our lives more decorative!
That is exactly the kind of mistake we would make! (The weekly, bi-weekly thing). So glad you have an affordable option that suits your needs better.
I have to say, reading all of the American bloggers fret about healthcare makes me feel so damn lucky. Our system isn't perfect but I never, ever have worried about basic coverage and I am SO grateful. I'm sorry that you guys have to go through all of this crap on top of everything else.
So do you have any leads on a new job?
For some reason I thought it was illegal to ever consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition, but I don't know for sure.
I'm glad you got good news - January 1 isn't that far off, you know! (Don't worry, I'm not going to add "You'll be pregnant before you know it!")
Still giggling about "unwrap the sperm gun..."
The "sperm gun" made me giggle, too :) At first I thought you were saying you were going the turkey baster route, lol! I always have been a bit slow on the uptake... Anyway, sorry you have to deal with all of this insurance stuff, but hope it works out favorably. January is not that far away at all.
Decorative guns. Now I have this image of your husband and his... his... never mind.
Sorry.
